President-elect Donald Trump said he will nominate former football star and former U.S. Senate candidate Herschel Walker to be ambassador to the Bahamas.Trump made the announcement with a Truth Social post on Tuesday night.”I am pleased to nominate Herschel Walker as United States Ambassador to the Commonwealth of the Bahamas,” Trump wrote. “Herschel has spent decades serving as an Ambassador to our Nation’s youth, our men and women in the Military, and athletes at home and abroad.
Herschel, a prosperous businessman, philanthropist, former Heisman Trophy winner, and NFL legend, has been an unwavering supporter of child sports. During my first term, he co-chaired the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition. Herschel has visited over 400 military installations around the world, working to remove the stigma associated with mental health. He competed for the United States at the 1992 Winter Olympics as a member of the bobsled squad. “Congratulations, Herschel! You will make Georgia and the entire nation proud because we know you will always put America first!” Walker ran for a US Senate seat from Georgia in a 2022 runoff election, but lost to Democrat Raphael Warnock. Walker, the Georgia Bulldogs’ standout running back, won the Walker, a Georgia Bulldog, earned the Heisman Trophy in 1982. He began his professional career with the United States Football League, which later disbanded, before moving on to the NFL.
Trump stated that he would appoint Nicole McGraw to be the US ambassador to Croatia. The president-elect referred to McGraw as a “philanthropist, businesswoman, and world-renowned art collector.”
